SUBMISSIONS: This website is just the beginning.
We do not aspire to be gatekeepers of a culture of dissent; if you would like to work with us, this website is meant to be a working document; submit additions to existing timelines, new articles, and other forms of media! If you are interested in contributing, here are some guidelines we have set in place:
You can reach the team via your non-wustl email address at [email protected].
Regarding author anonymity: A People's History of Washington University retains the right to curate this website; including, but not limited to, the anonymity of authors. While some will choose to include their name with their story, we respect the privacy of all contributors and will work to maintain their confidentiality. This is to ensure that people feel safer in sharing their stories, all of which took immense bravery and courage to publish. No witch hunts.
Oral Histories
How to record your oral history:
- Base submissions off lived experience
- Focus on voices that are systematically marginalized
- Do not attack other authors
- Critically interrogate the dominant culture of WashU

Oral Histories
How to record your oral history:
- Contact [email protected] with an idea
- We’ll provide the recording equipment and a recording space for approximately ½ hour
- ‘Authors’ will have the option to speak in the recording space by themselves or to a person
- For those wishing to remain anonymous, recordings can be edited to change the sound of your voice.
- Pieces may be edited down, with the author’s permission if they violate one of the above standards. All edits are up for discussion.
- Additional visual/written materials
